Grant activity
1. “Lviv Region Available Through The Eyes Of The Blind” (August, 2011 – March, 2012). The project is powered by the program for development of the UN in Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark. The project results: prepared prescribing information for 103 medicines in a format available to the blind (audio, Braille), installed sound devices at 45 traffic lights in the city and region, voiced 20 public catering facilities (central railway station, culture facilities, administrative institutions, educational institutions), published two books of poems issued 300 copies each (“A Bewitched Rabbit”, “A Beautiful Poetic Moment”), published a brochure about activities of the Foundation (issued – 200 copies), prepared a series of excursion trip for 270 sight-disabled persons (Skyt Manyavskyi, Zarvanytsya, the Monastery of Krekhiv, castles of Zhovkva, Nahuyevychi, Kulchytsi, Sambir, Halych, Rohatyn, Kolomyia, Kosiv, Verkhovyna, Kryvorivnya, Vorokhta, Yaremche), conducted a training workshop “Civil society: role of disabled persons in implementation of their rights and possibilities” (there were reviewed typical grants, the art of fund raising, project management, efficient communications), initiated amendments to the State Construction Codes of Ukraine (“Instructions for arrangement of buildings and structures with availability elements for sight- and hearing-disabled persons”) and decrees of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 1836 about formation of special working stations for the disabled. The project partner – Rotary Club “Lviv-Leopolis”.
2. “Creative force” (2011). The project is powered by the Swedish agency for international partnership, Svefi Academy (Sweden). The project results: recorded audio album of Ukrainian and Swedish blind singers accompanied by the symphonic orchestra of the National Academic Drama Theatre named after M. Zankovetska. Presentation of the album “Creative force” took place in Kyiv on December 03, 2012 and in Lviv on February 16, 2012. The project partner – Simferopol Training and Production Enterprise “Krymplast” of the Ukrainian Blind Association.
3. “The White Castle” (2011). The project is powered by the Central Board of Social Protection at Lviv Regional State Administration. The project results: organized an away chess tournament on occasion of the 20-th anniversary of the independence of Ukraine, an inter-nosology chess tournament on occasion of the International Day of the Disabled. The project partner – Rotary Club “Lviv-Leopolis”.
4. “A Book For Everyone” (2010). The project is powered by the Central Board of Social Protection at Lviv Regional State Administration. The project results: extended stock of the audio library recorded on digital media (including books voicing by the volunteers), the library was completed with modern media.
5. “A Library of The Future” (2009). The project is powered by the Central Board of Social Protection at Lviv Regional State Administration. The project results: formed personal audio library, purchased modern digital media.
6. “Your Chance” (2008). The project is powered by the Board of Social Protection at Lviv City Council. The project results: purchased special chess tables, arranged chess tournaments (including away tournaments). The project partner – Rotary Club “Lviv-Leopolis”.
7. “Center For Sports, Social and Medical Recovery of the Sigh-Disabled Persons” (November, 2007 – November, 2008). The project is powered by Henry Nouwen Foundation, the Netherlands. The project results: opened region’s only center for comprehensive recovery of blind and visually sighted citizens with rooms of medical recovery (massage, sun parlor, psychologist’s consultation), social recovery (domestic reasoning), sport recovery (female chess-players team training, female check-players team), a ‘touch’ club (things from beads, paper, leaves, leather), a computer literacy club, a library (audio books, Braille literature about chess), legal advice bureau. The project partner – Rotary Club “Lviv-Leopolis”, charitable organization “Maltese Aid Service in Lviv”.
8. “It Is A Game For You And Life For Us” (2007). The project is powered by the Board of Social Protection at Lviv City Council. The project results: purchased special equipment for a team of blind chess players (tournament voiced clocks, Braille chess), arranged tournament on occasion of the International White Reed Day. The project partner – Rotary Club “Lviv-Leopolis”.
